Russell Lee Oquist

Russell Oquist studied music at California State University at Northridge, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Composition Master’s Degree  and Conducting. He has also had a lifetime passion for writing poetry and stories. He is a singer, guitarist, composer, narrator and writer.  As he grew he began composing music and writing stories to glorify the Lord and to entertain and edify people.  He created the children’s stories series (Rhythmic, Rhyming, Timing Tales) originally as bedtime stories for his youngest daughter, Kristina.  He also developed a passion for setting scripture to music, setting many passages including the entire epistle of Philippians, to make it easier to memorize scripture.  He started a tour company in 1997 and for the next 25 years traveled around much of the world.  His company (which he sold to his daughter and friends) now provides quality travel to over 75 countries worldwide.  Russell loves the Lord and people and has learned from cultures all over the world.  His various skills and experiences culminate in his children’s stories, as he writes the story, composes, performs and records the music, writes and narrates the story as well as playing various characters in it.  His wife, Peggy is very involved in many ways, singing harmony on many of the songs as well as playing some of the most memorable characters in the children’s stories.  Russ has been delighted to include his 10 grandchildren in the various stories!
